Dharma Doodle: The Power of Wish

by Eric on February 17, 2012

Trees are key symbols in all sacred traditions. Recall the tree in  the Garden of Eden.  Remember where the Buddha sat – under a tree!

The Wish Tree an ancient image from the yogic tradition that symbolizes the organic, creative power of your being.
You can connect with the Wish Tree by envisioning your spine as the trunk of that sacred tree. Feel all the neural networks that flow in and out of the spine as the branches, leaves, and flowers of that tree.
It is said that whatever you dream of while under the Wish Tree will come to pass.

Your dream will arise in your experience; appear in your life. Like this . . .

You’re sitting under the Wish Tree.
What are you dreaming?
You can dream a new dream . . . if you are conscious. Otherwise, the unconscious patterns of emotional reactivity will continue to dream for you. And the Wish Tree will respond.

The Wish Tree doesn’t judge the dreams.
It simply and organically transmutes the subtle promptings of your inner being into your consciously experienced reality.
It is up to you – to choose the dream.

The patterns of the past have served their purpose. It is up to you to untangle your consciousness from outmoded dreams.

What is it that you most deeply and authentically want to experience, create, and realize in your life?

Dream that more fully, more clearly, more congruently, and more harmoniously.

What are you dreaming?

The dogs don’t need to check the clock. What they do is a predictable, conditioned pattern. You have patterns as well.

A reader writes: I wish to have Love in my life… and yes, I know it is close in terms of time. I just have to be ready to receive it. But I am too impatient to get it. So much so that sometimes I start doubting that I’ll get it. How can I lower [...]

How to become wise

January 14, 2012

Sometimes the fundamental impermanence of life can seem to throw a wet blanket over your life. Then goal setting, working hard, doing . . . anything . . . becomes pointless. The awareness of groundless-ness morphs into a kind of all-pervading cynicism laced with futility. But this cynical attitude is still based on clinging. It’s  [...]

How to overcome distractions

January 10, 2012

Imagine a professional basketball player stepping up to the free throw line. He bounces the ball a few times before looking to the basket. Above the rim, through the plexi-glass backboard, he can see row upon row of people shouting and waving. And they’re not shouting encouragement. They’re trying to distract him from making the [...]
